
Richard was born and raised in Idaho Falls. He was active in all sports at Skyline High School, and his love for sports continues today. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1977, majoring in accounting with minors in economics and business management.
After graduation, Richard returned to Idaho Falls to practice public accounting. He worked for a local accounting firm and, in 1981, purchased that firm. In 1984, Richard merged his firm with Rudd & Company. He is the firm's designated specialist for services to medical professionals. He is a frequent speaker at business and professional organizations on business and tax planning issues.
Richard is active in community affairs. Past activities include serving as a board member of the Idaho Falls Redevelopment Agency, the Teton Peaks Council of the Boy Scouts, the Idaho Falls Kiwanis Club, the American Red Cross, the Idaho Falls Country Club, and Habitat for Humanity. He is a recipient of Rotary International's Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Richard and his wife, Cheri, have four daughters. Their outside interests include golf, snow skiing, water skiing and enjoying their children's activities.
